Why Locals Love Dera Biryani and BBQ
Located in the heart of Mississauga, Dera Biryani and BBQ offers an authentic taste of Pakistani cuisine that truly stands out among local halal restaurants. Specializing in rich, flavorful biryanis, this eatery masterfully balances tradition and quality to deliver dishes that transport you straight to the bustling streets of Pakistan.
Their menu is a celebration of biryani craftsmanship, featuring delights such as the Chicken Biryani, which comes generously portioned with three pieces of tender chicken infused with a spicier blend of green chilies and aromatic spices. For those who prefer a milder, but equally captivating flavor, the Veal Biryani offers succulent, juicy veal pieces cooked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Another standout is the Mutanjan, a fragrant rice dish that's both satisfying and steeped in tradition.
Dera Biryani and BBQ caters to all appetites with portion sizes ranging from a single serving to large trays perfect for gatherings, priced reasonably for the quality and authenticity offered. Whether you're indulging solo or sharing with friends, you can expect generous servings that satisfy both hunger and craving. The dishes reveal a deliberate layering of spices and textures, where each bite reveals a new note of flavor — from the subtle warmth of cardamom to the vibrant kick of fresh chilies.
Visitors consistently praise the distinctive flavor profiles between the different types of biryanis, noting that unlike many other establishments, Dera Biryani and BBQ avoids the pitfall of a one-size-fits-all rice and seasoning blend. This attention to detail enhances an already memorable dining experience.
While the atmosphere leans more toward casual comfort than formal dining, it’s the food that truly commands attention here. The service receives mixed feedback, with some customers mentioning friendly interaction while others found the staff a bit reserved. Nonetheless, the stellar quality of the food keeps patrons coming back. For example, Mohamed Thaufeeq highlights the contrasting spice levels in the chicken and veal biryanis and praises the veal’s tenderness, while Amisha Patel commends the freshness of ingredients and authenticity of the recipes.
Although some customers note occasional availability issues, such as beef or veal biryani not being offered on weekends, the overall consensus underscores that Dera Biryani and BBQ remains a go-to destination for anyone seeking genuine halal Pakistani biryani in Mississauga.
If you’re passionate about savoring thoughtfully prepared, vibrant, and comforting South Asian flavors in a relaxed setting, Dera Biryani and BBQ is a culinary gem worth discovering.

One thing I really liked is that they don’t use the same rice or flavor for every biryani like many other restaurants. The chicken biryani and veal biryani taste completely different. The chicken biryani is spicier with lots of green chilies, while the veal biryani is milder. Both were absolutely delicious. The veal meat was very well cooked, juicy, and very soft. The staff were not very friendly and the prices are on the higher side. Still, the food quality makes it worth trying at least once. I can understand why many people say this is one of the best biryani spots in the GTA.

I tried Dera Biryani and BBQ recently, and honestly, the food was amazing! The biryani tasted authentic — flavorful, perfectly spiced, and the meat was so tender. You can really tell they use fresh ingredients and traditional recipes

First time trying their veal biryani. A little on pricier side for the portion size but good in taste (slightly spicy for me) but meat was well cooked and soft not chewy. Definitely recommend

We drove for Biryani and it was good. The only issue was no beef or veal Biryani available on the weekend.

Just had the most amazing biryani... The flavors were on point, and the portion was generous...meat was tender, and the rice was cooked to perfection. Loved the blend of spices! Highly recommended service was great too! 5/5 stars

Their Veal Biryani was awesome. The spices were just perfect and the meat to biryani ratio was also amazing.

Every time I've been here the biryani is sold out but we got lucky on Wednesday night, they had a freshly made tray of chicken biryani - it was absolutely stellar and tasted even better the day after, which I've been told is the ideal day to eat biryani. Hope to get lucky here again soon!

Dera Briyani is a total game-changer! I mean, I'm not even kidding, their biryani is literally the best I've had in ages! I went in with a bunch of friends and we were all blown away by the flavors. The staff, especially Simran, were super friendly and attentive. They knew exactly what we needed and got the food out super fast. The portions were generous, to say the least. We ended up ordering way too much food, but it was all worth it. Simran even gave us some awesome recommendations for sides and desserts. Highly recommend Dera Briyani for any biryani lover out there! 5 stars isn't enough, I'd give 'em 10 if I could "
